Born and raised in Maryland. B.A. Degree in English from the University of Maryland. Came to Arizona in the 1960's to attend graduate school. M.A. degree in Anthropology/Archaeology from the University of Arizona. Settled in the Benson area with my husband, Harry Stacy, in 1967 and we have lived here ever since. Primary interests have always included Native American studies, horses, and travel. Worked at the Amerind Foundation from 1967 to 1975. For many years I owned and ran a small equestrian boarding and lesson business from which I retired at the end of 2011
I began painting several years ago and still enjoy taking classes when I have the chance. My work is generally done in a representational style, and I particularly enjoy painting wildlife and landscape scenes. The majority of my work is now done in oils, but I also enjoy sketching and drawing with graphite and colored pencils. Occasionally I will pick up my palette knives to create more abstract works in oils and acrylics.
As with most artists, it is the challenge of trying to capture the image that I see "in my mind's eye" when I begin a new work that keeps me coming back to my easel.
Note: I first crossed Stoney Creek in the summer of 1956 on my way to spend a month at Camp Strawderman. After my first day, and seeing the view from the Old House porch, I was completely enthralled and spent the next eight summers in that enchanted place. The creek, the camp, the friends, and the good memories remain in my heart to this day.
